Indian Women dissappoint against Malaysia in Asia Cup 2009
India had to settle for a draw against Malaysia, the final tally being 1-1.
As per reports in various dailies, it was a dissappointing show. Indian eves squandered a lot of opportunities and Malaysian defense did the rest of the damage. It is also reported that Malaysian Hockey is seen another dawn now levelling a match against India!
A comprehensive report is available at stick2hockey website:
http://stick2hockey.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ArticleOID=3987
India put up a great show against China which were being considered as invincible but couldn't consolidate on the base that they had developed.
India now take on the mighty South Korea in the semi finals whereas China take on a rusty Japan in the other semi-finals. For India, taking on South Korea will surely be tufter in comparison to Japan.
The following post outlines the schedules, line-ups for the Medal rounds in the 7th Women's Asia Cup being played at Bangkok.

2 Big Matches in 7th Women's Asia Cup 2009 today
In the Women's Hockey Asia Cup 2009 in Bangkok, here's the big match lined up for the day:
India v China at 1430 (Thailand time), i.e. 1300 IST.
Another one, not to be missed is:
Japan v Korea at 1630 (Thailand time), i.e. 1500 IST.
India needs a draw or a win to reserve their berth in the Semi Final.
However, I am positive that India will not taking the match easily. As the coach claims, a win here would be a moral booster.
Here's a report on the same:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/hockey/top-stories/India-eyeing-for-at-least-a-point-against-China/articleshow/5189564.cms
Considering the fact that China is the favourite for the Asia Cup, it may be tough for India.
Although, Japan and Korea both have made it to be semis but these matches can serve as the backdrop for the finals.
Also remember the fact that Japan beat Korea in 2007 Asia Cup final to win the Gold, so Korea will be desperate to settle some scores today!
The current FIH ranking is as follows:
China 3rd
Japan 6th
Korea 11th
India 14th.
By all means and calculations, the Asia Cup winner will be amongst the above 4 with China leading the front.
But who knows, what surprise 22nd ranked Malaysia may have for everyone.
So, watch out for these 2 crucial games today.
We will updating the scores as soon as possible.
